March 13th, 2004.
Jim was living in San Diego and had two friends
that convinced him to attend a party.
I was living in Sherman Oaks, and was invited to
the same party by a co-worker. I arrived late, and
didn't know anyone at the party, other than my
co-worker.
Jim stared at me for most of the evening, and
made me quite uncomfortable. He eventually sat
next to me and I felt obligated to making small talk.
We chatted for a while...mostly because we were
the only sober people at the party. We exchanged
phone numbers at the end of the evening (actually
2:00 a.m.) and we parted ways. I honestly didn't
think we'd ever talk again...but obviously I was
wrong.
Over the next few months, we kept in contact but
made no move to see each other...that is, until Jim
moved in with his two friends, and hosted a
housewarming kegger (yes, kegger).
So here we are, almost 2 years later, living in San
Diego...and engaged! (Clearly I've omitted a few
details, but I'll share those another time.)
and I ended up talking to this cute girl.
She moved down to San Diego, and now
we're engaged.
